Just added to the TAB archive: four variations on the A and B parts to Blackberry Blossom.and added a kickoff plus my current favorite BBB-specific tag. The first time through the A part is pretty basic (as is the first B part) but the others versions are ... well ... not so basic. Anyway, I thought some might be interested to hear some different (in a few cases VERY different) interpretations of an well-worn, flatpicking standard. You can also download the TablEdit file directly from my webspace: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/BBB_FPL.tef And here's the same tab in .PDF format: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/BBB_FPL.pdf Enjoy!

"The Fox" Crosspicking TAB Workout

Just uploaded a new video to the FPHO and this time I chose "The Fox" -- one of my favorite traditional folk songs. I used Nickel Creek's studio version to back me up. I like their arrangement for two reasons:
 • It's a really, really great version of the tune.
 • Sean Watkins does very little but strum along (and not even that until over a minute into it) which leaves plenty of sonic room to be creative while playing along.
I always thought the intro where Thile sings and percussively chops out the beat on the mandolin was cool but felt the guitarist should have been doing something there as well. It occurred to me one day that maybe some crosspicking would fit in there nicely so I started messing around with that idea and came up with what you hear in the video. I like the extra dynamic it gives to the otherwise sparse intro and it has become my standard crosspicking workout/exercise song -- great for keeping your right hand in shape -- and I thought I'd share the TAB for it. Here's a direct link to the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=212soGvTM5I You can find the TAB in the FPHO archive as well but here are the links to it directly from my personal webspace: Here's the TablEdit file for the crosspicked intro: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/TheFox_Intro.tef And here's a .PDF file of the same: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/TheFox_Intro.pdf For the most part, the fretting hand does very little but hold some chord fragments leaving the picking hand to do all the hard work. I might add that "crosspicking" doesn't just mean the basic "1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2" string picking pattern to me and the TAB reflects that sentiment. Sometimes I just endlessly roll triplets "1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3..." (which creates a nice, syncopated feel) or intentionally hit the middle string instead of "crossing" over it back to the low string if that's what feels right and keeps the timing how I want it. Have fun!

Cryin' Holy Guitar Solo TAB Available

From the groundbreaking J. D. Crowe & The New South LP (die hard bluegrass fans will know this album simply by the record label's catalogue number: Rounder 0044). This is the only track where Ricky Skaggs sings lead. And although Tony Rice doesn't take a guitar break in the recording I always thought he should have. Therefore, I took it upon myself to correct this small oversight :-) The YouTube video for this song has already been added to the FPHO video archive but you can find the original YouTube offering here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy1JlnonhXY The tab has already been added to the FPHO tablature archive but I also made the .PDF and TablEdit (.TEF) files available directfly from my personal webspace: Here's the .PDF document: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/CryinHoly.pdf Here's the TablEdit file: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/CryinHoly.tef Additonally, I made a special version of the video that only focuses on the guitar break and plays it first at speed and then again at half speed (preserving pitch) to help people figure out what it is I'm doing (which my be helpful as the song whizzes by at nearly 280 bpm making it hard to keep up with where my fingers are going). This video is not on YouTube but can be accessed from my personal webspace here for FPHO members: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/sandbox/CryinHolySlowMo.wmv Although definitely not a beginner solo, I hope it proves instructive and useful to some of the FPHO members and feel free to ask me any questions about what it is I'm doing in the break. Enjoy!

Church Street Blues On The Way

FPHO Members, I want to apologize for my previous statement where I promised to get the TAB up in timley fashion. for my renditnion or "Church Street Blues". Since that vieo post, my wife has undergone an excruciatingly painful kidney infection/\stone along with a very nasty infection that forced us to spend a 20+ hours in the ER as well as the week or so of aftermath dealing with the chronic pain and care I had to give her in lieu of my flatpicking activities. Needless to say, I do intentend to get that TAB worked our for you kind folks at FPHO in the near future and I trully apologize for the unexpected delay. Sometime life gets in the way of of our best laid plans and this is such a case- my beloved wife of nearly 20 years takes precedence over any guitar-relatied material that may be of importance to some but definitely falls a distanst second to me in regards to her welfare. Again, I sincerly apologize for making a promise I was unable to keep but ask your underatnding and patience as I nurse my loving wife back to health and then I will untertake in earnest tabbing out the music to this wonderful tune. Aplogies for any misplellings and grammatial errors in this message - it's late and I'm quite tired (and a little tipsy - after a week plus or fear/worry/stress -- I feel I've earned the rare opportunity to tie one one, but I felt I owed it to this list to know that I haven't fortgotten my promise and do plan to follow through with my intent and promise to so do as soon as I am able. Once again, my proufound apologies for the delay in the delivery of the tablature for this wonderful song and I will do what I can in the next week or so to rectify this situation as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Thank you so much for you support and undertstanding. I love flatpicking more than anything on Earth with the noted exception of my my lovely, understanding and beautiful wife who has been with me through the good times and the bad for nearly 20 years now. She must take precedence in this situation. I hope you can understand. The good news is: a week after the initial episode, she is doing much, much better! The kidney stone passed after about 10+ hrs in the ER and since the then she has has had considerable pain due to the swollen/infected kidney but the antibiotcs have reallly made a differnece over the past few days and her pain level has reduced dramatically. My life is almost entirely flatpicking but it is definitely superceded by the woman I love who first encouraged me to follow my dream and do what I feel God put me on this Earth to do: share what I know with others. She will always take priority over everything else in my life and, for the time being, she is the center of all my focus. I truly apologize for promising a tab of "Church Street Blues" in a timely fashion but life got in the way so it will have to (temporarily) wait. I assure you I have NOT forgotten my promise and will add said tablature to the FPHO archive as soon as I feel Stephanie is feeling better and I have time to devote my time to my other passion - acoustic flatpicking. Thanks for listening and , again, I sincerely apologize for not being able to meet my previous assertion/promise to get that TAB to you guys in a timely fashion. I hope you can understand the stress I am under at the moment and I assure you I will address/rectify this unkept promise as soon as I am able. You have my word. Best and regards,

this show is amazing! it's a little offensive at times, but it's morely concerned around adult humor and teenagers like me love this stuff. i loved the episode where peter and louis go on vacation and they break into a hotel room as an imposter. it shows later on where louis tells peter: "peter the toilet paper is made of money!" then he tells her that they also have high class british porn and it shows it (there's no sex scenes) LMFAO! that's hilarious! then later on, he watches it again cause he feels like louis isn't attracted to him anymore and another clip comes up and that one is even funnier. "you know we could be having sexual intercourse right now! oh yes we could!ooh but let's not...."LMFAO!! funny stuff guys so 10/10 for this show. keep it up fox! http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/family-guy-seasons-1-8-dvd-boxset.html http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/greys-anatomy-seasons-1-6-dvd-boxset.html http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/weeds-seasons-1-5-dvd-boxset.html http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/walt-disneys-100-years-of-magic-164-discs-dvd-boxset.html http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/house-m-d-seasons-1-6-dvd-boxset.html http://www.dvdsuperdeal.com/cold-case-seasons-1-6-dvd-boxset-1.html

hey folks, there was a guitar tab floating around for Johnny Staat's tune, "Mandolin Meltdown". I think it was on Jay Buckey's site. Can't seem to find it anywhere. Anybody have any leads? It was the mandolin break, tabbed out for guitar, not the guitar break on the recording.

I'm looking for the music to Tony Rice's Blackberry Blossom from the Manzanita album. Tab is fine but it needs to be in standard notation also. Is there sheet music out there for this? Willing to purchase if necessary. Thanks!
